About Us
Sunnynook Preschool is a proud, long standing part of the Sunnynook community. Our long serving teaching team are all 100% qualified with many years of experience in preschool education.
We aim to provide high quality preschool education and care for tamariki and their whanau in a safe and loving environment. Everything we do in our environment and curriculum is thoughtfully designed to create learning opportunities for children.
We are old school in all the good ways;

We have a good blend of free play and also teacher managed times during the day.

We have mat times that support children to participate and listen attentively.

Children are intentionally supported to develop literacy and numeracy skills that lay the foundations for success at school.

Our teachers take amazing care of our equipment and environment.
As we provide a specialised preschool program, we cater for children aged
2 - 5 years old only.

Preschool Hours
We are open Monday to Friday for preschool education during the same terms as the local primary schools.
We also offer a special holiday program during school term holidays.
The preschool is closed for three weeks over the Christmas holiday period and all public holidays.
Choose Your Sessions
We are open
8:30am - 4:00pm
Children are required to be enrolled for a minimum of 6.5 hours per day.
Our Transition to School program operates between
8:45am - 3:15pm.
Half Day Sessions are available on request when a child first starts.
These are;
8:45am - 11:45am
OR
12:00pm - 4:00pm
Please come and talk to us if you would prefer your child to attend for shorter hours when they first start.
The Essentials
Children bring their own lunch box each day to cover their morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
We encourage our whanau to provide a healthy lunch box with zero waste if possible.
We provide your child with a book bag, reading and writing books for use at preschool.
